And the scripts should be able to generate that kind of map without too much of a problem - yes, the land will get stretched and the game will form a lot of "mountain-blocks", but overall the maps stay quite playable. I had much more prosessing power usable then than most players, so it was not a limitation. There is probably hard coded limitations width, height, tile count in the game code. When you say much larger than x80 won't work, is that because of the resource restrictions? I tried some values few years ago and the game crashed when values were too high and also sometimes even with smaller values. That sucks, guess i'll experiment around with it a bit then, i've never had much of a problem with resource distribution on the huge maps so far but then again i usually just play continents so i end up with one large contiguous area with alot of resources anyways. Huge map size is already too large for current game mechanism my opinionwhich makes playing strange because there are not enough luxury resources and they are too widely dispersed. There are large resourceless areas in huge map already, while 10x larger maps would have very large areas with just couple of resources. The game compensate this by happiness modifiers, cities produce less happiness in larger maps. There is almost equal number of luxury resources in all map sizes, resources are just more widely dispersed in larger maps. Much larger maps than Huge x80 don't work. You can open it with a map editor, choose your world size, then you can edit: GridWidth and GridHeight for that map to whatever you want.ĭon't choose too big numbers, or your computer might not be able to handle it especially in the lategame.

So i noticed the largest map size is 'Huge' with 12 countries and 24 city states, i was wondering if there was a mod anywhere that would make the map even larger, just truly massive so it'll keep me occupied for a few years like 10x as large or more?
